There are two types of spells: strategic spells and tactical spells. Some spells, such as summons and enchantments, are sustained, in which case they cost mana each turn.

Strategic spells can only be cast on the world map and need time to prepare. Only one spell can be prepared at a time.

City spells[edit | edit source]

Spawnkin Spawnkin Tome of the Horde 2 Resource mana.png 150 150 Makes the target race smaller and more numerous, granting them:
  • Increased number of units in formation.
  • +20% damage. Incompatible with Supergrowth.

Age of Chaos Age of Chaos Resource mana.png 20 Channel the Age of Chaos to reach the Magic Victory. While channeling:
  • Your Empire affinity chaos.png Chaos Affinity Spells cost -50% Resource mana.png Mana, Casting points world map.png World Map Casting Points, and Casting points combat.png Combat Casting Points.
  • Each turn Turn in combat, a random enemy unit sustains 15 damage of a random type and has a base 90% chance of receiving a random negative status effect.
  • Hostile armies will be spawned next to your Affinity Province Improvements in an attempt to destroy them.
Age of Materium Age of Materium Resource mana.png 20 Channel the Age of Materium to reach the Magic Victory. While channeling:

Age of Nature Age of Nature Resource mana.png 20 Channel the Age of Nature to reach the Magic Victory. While channeling:
